The Suwannee County Building Department is responsible for ensuring the public health, safety and welfare of the county’s residents through the enforcement of federal, state, and local codes governing construction. Our staff reviews plans, issues building permits, and performs inspections to ensure Code compliance with the Florida Building Code, Florida Statutes (Chapters 553 & 489) and County Ordinances. The Building Department is also responsible for licensing of contractors within Suwannee County.
No permit applications received or permits issued after 4:30 p.m.
Your construction must comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, building codes and zoning regulations. If you have any questions as to whether your project requires permits, please call our office prior to the commencement of any work.
NOTICE!: There may be additional restrictions applicable to your property that may be found in the public records of this county, and there may be additional permits required from other governmental entities such as water management districts, state agencies, or federal agencies.”
