County Coordinator
COUNTY COORDINATOR - RANDY HARRIS
NATURE OF WORK
This is a highly responsible, administrative and executive position reporting to the County Commission. The County Coordinator's powers and duties are administrative in nature and do not include any legislative governmental power instilled in the Board of County Commissioners as the governing body of Suwannee County.
Work carries responsibility for consideration and analysis of major organizational problems. Requires development of data and recommendations that influence decisions on long-term policies relating to a County operation. Performs a wide range of complex administrative activities related to planning, arranging and directing major activities of county government operations.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Responsible for the administration and overall management of Building Maintenance & Custodial, Administrative Services, Protective Inspection, Airport, Code Enforcement, Addressing and Planning & Zoning. Prepare and monitor administrative procedures and the staffing structure.
Administer and carry out the directives and policies of the Suwannee County Board of Commissioners and enforce all orders, resolutions, ordinances and regulations of the Board to assure that they are faithfully executed.
Scrutinize department expenditures and monitor services and programs for effectiveness, analyze and correct problems and ineffective service.
Negotiates leases, contracts and other agreements, including consultant services for the County, subject to approval of the Board and makes recommendations concerning the nature and location of County improvements. Sees that terms and conditions in leases, contracts and agreements are performed and notifies the Board of any noted violation thereof.
Attends all meetings of the Board with authority to participate in the discussion of any matter. Responsible for preparation and delivery of formal presentations; attends meetings, conferences and seminars requiring periodic travel.
Supervises the care and custody of all property under the direct control of the Board of County Commissioners.
Develops public policy for adoption, advises the County Commission and communicates with the press and public, relative to a variety of public administration issues.
