Building Department

The Suwannee County Building Department is responsible for ensuring the public health, safety and welfare of the county’s residents through the enforcement of federal, state, and local codes governing construction. Our staff reviews plans, issues building permits, and performs inspections to ensure Code compliance with the Florida Building Code, Florida Statutes (Chapters 553 & 489) and County Ordinances. The Building Department is also responsible for licensing of contractors within Suwannee County.

Hours of Operation

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday

No permit applications received or permits issued after 4:30 p.m.

Your construction must comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, building codes and zoning regulations. If you have any questions as to whether your project requires permits, please call our office prior to the commencement of any work.
